Small deciduous tree, 3-5 meters high; thin bark, off-white, much branched. The leaves are thin paper, arranged in two rows, elliptical-lanceolate, or oblong, 6-17.5 cm long and 2-7.5 cm wide. The fruits are connected by many round or oval mature carpels and are easily separated. The aggregate berries are spherical or heart-shaped conical, 5-10 cm in diameter, hairless, yellow-green, and white frosted on the outside.
